liquidated damages
cease when architect says building can be used by
the City. Motion seconded by Mr. Rigdont and
carried unanimously.
In discussion of item l5, Mr. Sconiers quoted
actual costs for the City' s fire department
J making runs to the Island and that status of how
much had been paid by the Island for fire runs
made for which they had been billed $50. 00 each.
It was noted that rescue runs had been billed but
the Island Authority had declined to pay for those.
Mr. Rigdon noted that this continued service cost
the Fort Walton Beach taxpayer 2l or 22, 000. 00 and
suggested a donation from the Authority of a
similar amount each year. It was noted that this
would enable the City to get another vehicle and
possibly 3 men and this addition to the equipment
211
would probably not affect the City' s fire rating
for insurance. Manager reminded the Council that
eventually multiple story hotels would be built
on the island and he felt the City should have
something to say on the building codes if City were
to provide fire protection.
I After general discussion, Mr. Rigdon moved that a
committee be appointed to discuss rescue and fire
emergency service with the Island Authority Board
at their earliest convenience. Motion seconded by
Mr. Sconiers and carried unanimously.
Mayor appointed the following committee: Rigdon,
Long, Sconiers and noted that first- named Mr.
Rigdon would be chairman.
Concerning No. l8, Mr. Long noted that he had dis-
cussed this with Mrs. Lazarus and she had explained
that it was customary for municipal museums
municipally operated) to be named for the munici-
pality. She had also noted that this had been the
wish of Mr. Lazarus. He indicated that Mrs. Lazarus
was well pleased with the
plaque honoring Mr.
Lazarus that was to be placed in the entranceway of
the museum.
BOD REPORT, LIBRARY Mayor read B. O. D. report for the two sewer plants;
REPORT, HUMANE SOCIETY the November Library report and the November Humane
REPORT Society report. Mr. Rigdon asked why the b. o. d.
reports read at the Council table were not the
same as those reported in the paper.
Manager
explained that the ones in the paper were taken
from sampling points in the bay and the reports
for City plants were taken at the plant.
MUNICIPAL PLANNING Mayor read the following report from the Municipal
BOARD REPORT Planning Board: lilt is the recommendation that
the resubdivision of Lots 28 and 29, Block lO,
Oakland Addition be approved as proposed."
Council observed the proposed resubdivision on a
map.
I
