Dear Commissioners:
| am pleased to learn of Okaloosa County’s proposed Living Shorelines Project
(“Project”).
This Project will help provide much needed relief from eroding shoreline and property
losses. Specifically, these proposed improvements along Choctawhatchee Bay will
provide numerous benefits including; stabilizing the eroding shoreline; protecting upland
property and natural resources; restoring, creating and enhancing natural habitat for
aquatic and terrestrial species; increasing the biodiversity and sustainability of
Choctawhatchee Bay; and creating new recreational and educational opportunities for
residents and visitors.
| applaud the County’s efforts in developing a conceptual plan which is both
aesthetically pleasing and compatible with the surrounding natural habitat. | would like
to express my support of the Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners in
proceeding with the planning and permitting of the Project and look forward to providing
further input throughout the process.
