STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Department of Airports requests the Board of County
Commissioners approve the following items relating to the Boarding Bridges and Bag Lifts
project at the Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS), Contract No. C14-2204-AP, with
ThyssenKrupp Airport Systems, Inc.
(1) Final Change Order No. 1 deleting ($34,932.25) from the contract amount.
(2) Final payment to ThyssenKrupp Airport Systems, Inc. in the amount of $1,963,707.75.
BACKGROUND: The construction contract for Passenger Boarding Bridges at Gate A1 and A2
at Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport was issued on August 26, 2014, to ThyssenKrupp Airport
Systems, Inc. and the Notice-to-Proceed was issued on October 6, 2014.
The project included replacing up to 4 bag lift systems. Change Order No. 1 reduces the number
of bag lift systems to be installed from 4 to 3. The bag lift on Gate B-5 was less than 5 years in
age and did not need to be replaced. Further, a math error calculation on the Base Bid Item #3
extended total is also being corrected (reduction of $2) as part of the Change Order. Change
Order No.1 decreases the contract in the amount of ($34,932.25), resulting in a final contract
amount of $1,963,707.75. All work authorized under this contract has been completed.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Airport staff recommends approval of final Change Order No. 1,
decreasing the contract by ($34,932.25) and final payment to ThyssenKrupp Airport Systems,
Inc., Contract No. C14-2204-AP, in the amount of $1,963,707.75
