BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: September 6, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Alvin Henderson SUBJECT: Direct Payment of the SkyBase Communications Satellite Service Invoice DEPARTMENT: Public Safety BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval to direct pay the SkyBase Communications, LLC, invoice for satellite service in the amount of $3,912.00 for the period July 1, 2016-June 30, 2017. BACKGROUND: During catastrophic disasters total communication failure can result. The utilization of satellite communications can circumvent these failures through the use of satellite phones. Okaloosa County maintains a mobile command post with satellite service providing not only satellite phone service, but internet access to the Emergency Operations Center WebEOC disaster database for these types of events. SkyBase Communications is the sole provider of this service. OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove. RECOMMENDATIONS: Recommend approval to direct pay the invoice in the amount of $3,912.00 to SkyBase Communications, LLC. RECOMMENDED BY: APPROVED BY: John Hofstad, County Administrator
