BUILDING, SUBDIVISION AND ZONING DIVISION, SEC. 2- 67. 19( c) FUNCTIONS OF DIVISION OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, PROVIDING THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA: SECTION I. The following section is hereby amended as follows: Sec. 2- 67. 19. Functions of division. In order plan and control the orderly growth of the city, prevent the deterioration to of existing buildings and assure proper methods of new construction or repair, the city has passed certain ordinances and adopted standard codes. It is the function of the building, subdivision, and zoning division of the city to: a) Conduct periodic inspections to see that all codes affecting: constructio , repair or addition to buildings; buildings for compliance with zoning regulations; sub- divisions being created, altered or changed; zones in effect or being altered or changed and issue violation notices where appropriate. b) Issue violation notices to owners or occupants of properties when violations of codes or ordinances occur. appropriate licenses or permits for construction of buildings or c) Issue structures,- e+ eetrte~+;- p+~ mbtn9;- mee~~ nte~+;- 9~!- or- ot~er-~ ork- tn- eonneetton-~ tt~ eon! tr~etton. A11 other permits for electrical, plumbing, mechanical, gas or other work in connection with construction shall be issued by the tax department upon coordination through this department. Licenses or permits will be issued in accordance with existing ordinances. d) Approve or disapprove plans submitted in accordance with existing codes and ordinances. e) Receive requests for zoning changes for processing to appropriate approval authority. f) Coordinate with the city engineer for joint approval of any subdivision plans or alterations submitted. g) Make periodic inspections for compliance with zoning regulations and issue violation notices where appropriate. h) Maintain and submit records and reports of inspections made, permits issued and violations reported. i) Conduct special inspections as may be requested from time to time by the city manager. SECTION I I. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval by Council and signature of the Mayor.
