nted out ,tqe by- law that restrioted games
with teams outside of the league; aDd noted that the
oity' s Recreation Department has spent a lot of time
and money in determining how many games each tea
would play during the season; that the oity is not in
the business of having oontests between oities or
leagues, and that this is a oity recreation pr(8ram
for oitizens of the oity of Fort Walton Beach. Mr.
Bobo felt, rather than let the gue be played this
month, that the Parks. & Recreation Department should
prepare for r~ iew lle
s() rules and guideliiles that
would establish the polioy for extra games for all
sports.
Mr. Roberts voioed OOllOern that there would not be
enough tise to establiSh the guidelines for this year
aDd stated if it oould. be worked out,he would like to
see the ohildren play this year, and added he would
like to see some guidelines established for next year.
Mr. Patriok stated if the Recreation Department felt
this game oould belU.l188ed and oontrolled properly,
then he would be in favor of the gue being played.
Monty Jackson, speaking as a private oitizen, felt as
long as everyone followed the sue rules that it oould
be handled aDd, as a parent, he was in support of
developing a pr(8ru of this type.
Mr. Sl11th oalled the question to vote on the
for
motion. The Mayor oalled for the vote, and it
then
oarried by a vote of 5 to 1, with Mr. Bobo opposed.
