FOR/ DPT018E Page 2 21 Comments This project will structurally rehabilitate Lift Station 2, located in front of Ship and Sail, near City Hall. Constructed in 1947, this lift station has experienced significant corrosion from the acidic effects of hydrogen sulfide, a gas associated with sewage, and other corrosive agents. Consequently, the interior concrete structure is significantly eroded. The lift station repair will have these major stages: 1. Pressure clean the interior walls. 2. Apply an epoxy bonding layer to the old concrete. 3. Apply high strength concrete to improve the structural strength and cover the reinforcing steel with at least two inches of protection. 4. Apply urethane coating to protect against similar damage in the future. The responsive, responsible bidder is Slaughter lowest, Construction Company of Gulf Shores, Alabama, with a 38, 300 bid to construct the project as specified. The lowest bidder, D& 0 Contractors of Kenner, Louisiana, bid 36, 800. However, D& O' s bid did not meet the technical specifications as they submitted a system using an epoxy final coating instead of the specified urethane coating. Other work performed by Slaughter Construction Company for the City of Fort Walton Beach included similar work with the Pump Station # 1 rehabilitation project, for which they performed satisfactorily. g: City of Fort Walton Beach MIA..
