Fort Walton Beach Council minutes — 10-20-1964 Regular — reading text

Councilman Tolbert reported that he had complaints from residents living behind Fort Walton Square Shopping Center, asking if the City could get Center to put up any kind of wall or fence as a buffer. Manager reported that he could contact ~~. Goodwin and talk this over with him. Mr. Ready mentioned that several of the residents involved had talked with him and he believed they would be willing to close portion of Texas Drive since Hughes Avenue is open. Manager said he would contact ~ I. Goodwin and ask him to stop by the next time he is in the area. Councilman Rogers said he had inspected ditch in question on Ferry Avenue, on property of Jerry Henley, and asked if this could be put back on the working agenda of the Public Works Committee. He said that Tf,r. Henley was ready to build and would like to get something worked out before the city- wide drainage plan is prepared. There was a general discussion of this situation and of the fact that Council had recently compromised in one situation of this type. Manager reported that material would cost approximately $ 250. 00 and labor approximately the same amount. Councilman Ready moved that this ditch be piped on basis of Mr. Henley' s furnishing the pipe and the City installing it and back- filling the ditch. ~~ otion seconded by Councilman Long, and the vote was aye unanimously.
