Attached is a job description for the requested position and is proposed as a pay grade 72 ($38,500.80- $63,939.20). BACKGROUND: This position will work with the Tourist Development Director and staff to set strategic direction and manage the Tourist Development Department’s (TDD) advertising, marketing, social media, website, and public relations initiatives. Currently, these duties are being performed by an individual employed through a temporary agency. However, from an organizational standpoint, it is important that a County employee be closely involved in managing the County’s strategic marketing plan. We have received notification that the individual performing these duties through the temporary agency will be leaving the assignment in the next several weeks. Therefore, the department has requested to add this position as a regularly established full-time position and to begin the recruitment process in an effort to have as little gap as possible in this very important role. The department has indicated that any budget impact would be mitigated by the decrease in the current expenses paid to the temporary agency. The Human Resources Policy states “The establishment of additional positions not approved through the budget process shall be coordinated through the Human Resources Department and will be accomplished at the discretion of the County Administrator upon approval of the Board.” OPTIONS: Approve/Deny RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve RECOMMENDED BY: Packet Pg. 682 APPROVED BY: Ernie Padgett, County Administrator Packet Pg. 683 OKALOOSA COUNTY CLASS DESCRIPTION, 2014 JOB TITLE: MARKETING MANAGER TOURIST DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT REPORTS TO THE TOURIST DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB Works with the Tourist Development Director and staff to set strategic direction and manages the Tourist Development Department’s (TDD) advertising, marketing, social media, website, and public relations initiatives to position the Emerald Coast as a premiere leisure, convention, and event destination.
