Okaloosa County BOCC — June 2, 2015 — First Extension Request

Okaloosa County Public Works State of Florida May 16, 2014 Pam Miner Project Manager, NW Florida Transportation 1141 Jackson Avenue Chipley, FL 32428 Re: FDOT Joint Participation Agreement (JPA) Extension Request Project Description: Shalimar Gateway Landscaping Project Limits: SR 85 from north of Loblolly Drive to south of Sunset Boulevard FPID: 416533-8-58-23 Dear Ms. Miner: Okaloosa County is requesting a one-year extension of the above Joint Participation Agreement (JPA). The JPA between the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Okaloosa County was executed on June 10, 2013 with an end date of May 31, 2014. The initial project schedule anticipated in-house installation of the irrigation system in the late Fall of 2013 followed by letting of the landscaping contract in the Spring of 2014. Unfortunately, this project lies with the jurisdiction of Eglin Air Force Base and we have encountered unanticipated delays in finalizing permit requirements. In addition, in February 2014, Eglin made the determination that an easement would be required to move forward with the project. We are well into the easement process but were informed that it could take 6-12 months to finalize. Due to the additional time and effort involved before work can actually commence, we are proposing the following revised project schedule (worse case scenario). If approved, the new Agreement end date would be June 30, 2015. Okaloosa County respectfully requests this extension and will work with all vested parties to make this project a success.
