Mr. Sparkman advised tonight's meeting would be a general overview of what has been designed so far. He reported that Mr. Richard and Jim Dowling would be meeting with him in Dallas in June and he plans to be 98% completed with the drawings at that time. Also discussed was that at this time, the project appears to be within budget, and no problems are anticipated. Mr. Richard advised that if a budgeting problem should arise during discussions in Dallas, he will inform Council following his return. T! 1' 1~; r";"-- 1Ti'"( i q~ .. f)~~~ N_ A lengthy discussion ensued regarding the water draining from the roof of the clubhouse and the use of gutters to alleviate the problem. Mr. Sparkman discussed several options to redirect the water flow including leaving the plan as it is, removing the interior roof drain and placing gutters around the perimeter of the columns, or to remove all gutters and drains and redirect the water off of the roof, which could cause staining in time. Mrs. Collins moved to remove the interior roof drain and place gutters around the perimeter of the columns. Motion was seconded by Mr. Dowling and carried by a vote of 4 to 2 with Baggett, Dowling, Covey, and Collins in favor and Carnathan and Tucker opposed ( Kelley absent). Mr. Sparkman discussed the exterior of the building and stated it would consist of pre-cast concrete surrounding steel columns, metal clad exterior doors, and waterproof concrete basement walls. Additional items discussed included having additional parking areas for parking overflow; whether there should be more than one exit lane onto Lewis Turner; and that signage for the parking lot will be done I internally. J~. i~~~ i! i''"'!;'-' .-.,..."....."" ill~~~ l~~ Discussion included the kitchen, banquet and grill areas and the fact that a prep kitchen has been added. Additional discussion ensued regarding the kitchen equipment not being included in the contract;the cost for a vendor to lease the kitchen per month; and whether a vendor would be able to make a profit. Further discussion ensued regarding the Edwin Watts area of the clubhouse and the hours of operation as opposed to the clubhouse hours. Mr. Sparkman clarified that when the clubhouse is completed, the Watts area will be unfinished except for a concrete floor and insulated walls. At that time, Mr. Watts can contract with IDS/ B or hire a contractor of his choice to complete the work. 5/ 24/ 00 264 MaIII~ Also discussed was the inclusion of a small office for the Golf Association. Mr. Sparkman advised the air conditioning units will be placed up above the kitchen in the mezzanine area and buffering will be provided to cut down on vibration and noise. Mr. Richard advised that estimates for the furnishing of the clubhouse would be available at the last Council meeting in June. Council stressed that while the clubhouse should be tasteful in its furnishings, it is not a country club and the furnishings must be durable to last a number of years. 1 ~.~ /.
