This event will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at L.J. Schooner’s in Bluewater Bay. The Duathlon will consist of a one-mile run, a 15 mile bike ride, and a 3.1 mile run. Just as last year, over half of the proceeds of this event will be donated to the EOD Warrior Foundation, with the remainder going to the Emerald Coast Triathlon Club to further its mission of bringing the benefits of multisport activities our community. The Bluewater Bay Duathlon will open to participants at 5:30 am with a race start time of 7:30 am. We anticipate that all participants will have completed the course by 9:30 am, at which time the post- race Awards Ceremony will begin. The bike course will start at the Bluewater Bay Marina, traverse the Bluewater neighborhood to White Point Road, go Northbound from Lakeshore Drive to S.R. 293 and continue on 293 until exiting right at Range Road. Cyclists will continue by the EOD Memorial. This is the most meaningful part of the course as it reminds participants of one of the primary purposes of the Bluewater Bay Duathlon. We wish to apply for the appropriate permits to allow our duathlon course along the following road: State Road 293 from Lakeshore Drive to Range Road We have contacted the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office regarding approval and manning of this event. We are also applying to the Department of Transportation to secure a permit. Please find our required certificates of insurance attached to this letter. We will have volunteers at every intersection and they will wear brightly colored Bluewater Bay Duathlon T-shirts so that they are easily recognizable. We assure you that we will conduct this Duathlon in a courteous, professional, and safe manner with respect for our participants and our community. If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at (850) 737-0429. Thank you for your consideration. With warmest regards, } HE A Bader omygere soe" Ann B.
