Mrs. Sherry expressed her concern that the government does not have to inform citizens before taking down their homes. She said she does not understand the rush to give more power to the Code Enforcement Board. Mr. David Sherry, Okaloosa Island, stated the proposed Code Enforcement ordinance shows extensive changes from the last version and feels 1t 1is intrusive on citizens. He felt the proposed ordinance protects government too much and the people too little. Mr. Sherry asked the Board what they are trying to accomplish. Mrs. Ketchel stated she would like to take a moment to recognize a truly remarkable woman in the audience, Mrs. Tina Beukenkamp, who is one-hundred years old. VISITOR - WENDY GREENE, VETERANS PARK AS SITE ON GREAT FLORIDA BIRDING & WILDLIFE TRAIL Ms. Wendy Greene stated she would like to nominate Veterans Park as a new site on the Great Florida Birding & Wildlife Trail. Upon inquiry by Mr. Boyles, Public Works Director Jason Autrey reported the State is not promulgating right now. He clarified that it is his understanding the State may begin accepting applications at the end of 2016 or the beginning of 2017. Mr. Autrey stated there is no objection to the beauty of Veterans Park but urged caution “because the State does not know what it wants to do.” He repeated, the State 1is not processing applications at this time. Mrs. Ketchel applauded Ms. Greene for bringing this item forward. She noted that she has spoken with the Tourist Development Director about the Monarch Trail. Mrs. Ketchel told Ms. Greene she will work with her. Mr. Boyles said the consensus of the Board appears to be to work with Ms. Greene and submit when staff gets more information.
