Primarily, the program annually contributes to crime prevention by steering local youth towards positive school and community participation. Secondarily, safe neighborhoods are being promoted by helping nurture a generation of local youth towards positive pursuits in their local communities with long term career and community contribution goals in mind. The annual Youth Super Day event is funded through local business and community sponsors for all of its expenses. The level of event is designed around projected donations each year. If donations fall short of expectations, the sponsoring organization contributes further to cover any shortfall. However, it does not direct any unspent contribution towards its routine operating expenses, by rule. Youth Super Day is only one part of an umbrella program known as "Kappa League," consisting of other youth assistance charitable projects as well. Some contributors do permit any leftover monies to be spent towards those additional programs. We are sending selected youth to college explorer programs. | 3. Fort Walton Beach Alumni Chapter “Accepting the Challenge” MEMORANDUM FROM: DeAllen Hobbs, Polemarch Willie Farrow, Youth Super Day 2016 Chairman TO: Community Partner DATE: January 20,2016 SUBJECT: Youth Super Day 2016 Community Service Event The Fort Walton Beach Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., together with the City of Fort Walton Beach, Florida and the Okaloosa County Branch of the NAACP Youth Council, solicits your support for our upcoming 17th Annual Youth Super Day communityservice event to be held on Saturday, April 02, 2016. The themie is "Accepting The Challenge.” Annually, this is our alumni association’s premier community service project. Over the past 16 years, the partnerships formed with supportive organizations like yours have been invaluable. Our combined efforts with community sponsors of positive programs for local youth have ensured repeatedly successful Youth Super Dayprograms. Annual Youth Super Day is comprised of a full day of exciting activities educating and inspiring our future community contributors. Area disadvantaged youth are especially targeted. The morning session is primarily a motivational workshop featuring community leaders and distinguished guests from various professions. This year’s primary speaker is Mr. Steven L. Williams, Gulf Power, Procurement and Materials Manager. Our guest speaker is followed by breakout panel discussions, addressing related topics and providing encouraging speeches from professionals focused on staying in school, developing goals, and pursing dreams. The afternoon session provides “Spring In The Park” activities consisting of food, fun, games, live music, and more while using the opportunity for role modeling and mentoring. Trophies and prizes donated by local businesses are awarded to all youth participants. We are encouraging all area youth service organizations to participate by setting up a booth to inform the entire community of their particular programs. We are proud to state that Youth Super Day has been growing in both participation and popularity each year. Last year over 300 youth participated in the program. The continued success of this event is primarily due to the support we have received from community leaders and organizations such as Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlburt Field Wing Commanders, the Mayor of Fort Walton Beach, the Okaloosa County Schools Superintendent, the President of Northwest Florida State College, Fort Walton Beach Police and Fire Department Chiefs, and the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center Chief Administrator, among others. Youth Super Day 2016 reinforces our alumni association’s signature “Guide Right” program of year round tutorial and leadership development as well as our “Kappa League” youth leadership and POST OFFICE BOX 4913 FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA 32548 development program. Kappa League provides a two-year program that prepares young men for careers and college. I am attaching a brochure for Kappa League for your information. Most likely these are community-enhancing programs that you would be honored to support for numerous reasons. Additionally, Youth Super Day 2016 will feature a full color Youth Services Directory. Our goal is to place the directory into the hands of parents. They are consumers desperately seeking local services to help in their child’s development and in steering a young mind in the right direction. I suspect that you already appreciate the benefit to your organization being represented in such a directory. In conclusion, we truly need your support. It is vital to another successful Youth Super Day. To keep costs for families to a minimum, while attracting steadily growing participation, it takes your funding to make it a reality. The future dividends derived from good citizenship far outweigh today’s contributions. Please consider making a
