BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
AGENDA REQUEST
DATE: September 2, 2014
TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board
FROM: Don Turner
SUBJECT: OC Admin Building C.O. #4
DEPARTMENT: Facility Maintenance
BCC DISTRICT: 2
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: (FM) Requests BCC approval of Change Order 14-04 to the D-B
Contract for the new Okaloosa County Administration Building in the amount of $4,024,754.21.
BACKGROUND: The demolition of the five main buildings of the former Shalimar Courthouse
Annex is nearly complete. The debris pile is shrinking as the remnants from the demolition
activities are being hauled away. The construction of the new administration building is about to
begin in earnest.
To keep the construction of the new building on track to be completed sometime around mid-
August of 2015, the Design-Build team needs BCC approval to the asbestos abatement contract
for the abatement of some additional materials that were discovered during the abatement
activities and to enter into several new contracts for the construction of the new building. Those
contracts are for the site work package, concrete package, masonry package, and the structural
steel package.
At previous BCC meetings, the Board has given approval for the D-B contractor to move
forward with letting certain portions of the project out for bids. The results of those bids are
represented in this change order. This is not a funding request, it's a request for BCC approval
for the contractor to enter into the contracts represented by this Change Order.
RECOMMENDATIONS: (FM) Requests BCC approval of Change Order 14-04 to the D-B
Contract for the new Okaloosa County Administration Building in the amount of $4,024,754.21
and authorize the Chairman to execute all related documents.
