They are now at the position where they can’t do anything until the Air Force gives final approval after an environmental study and a survey is finalized. Mr. Foreman mentioned the Pathways Program as an option for grant funding. I. Items for TDC Approval/Recommendation a. FY17 Budget Overview Ms. Dunworth presented an overview of the budget and primary purposes for each of the five pennies. Discussion ensued regarding the need for contingency funds for each penny. Council consensus was to include 1% contingency. b. 9:10am – Emerald Coast Science Center funding request Diane Frasier presented a slideshow to create an Emerald Coast Exhibit to raise awareness of the area, including hands-on exhibits, an augmented 3D Watershed reality sandbox and salinity pond in their new location on Memorial Parkway. c. 9:30am – Destin History & Fishing Museum funding request Don Rogers, President of the Board of Directors, introduced Kathy Blue, Director, who presented a request for additional exhibits to promote the area fishing fleet and Annual Fishing Rodeo. Tourist Development Council Page 1  d. 9:50am – Heritage Park & Cultural Center funding request Gail Meyer presented a funding request for a “French in Florida” exhibit. To accept requests from the Emerald Coast Science Center, Destin Motion: History & Fishing Museum, and Heritage Park & Cultural Center, as presented. Motion: To approve as presented RESULT: MOTION APPROVED [UNANIMOUS] MOVER: Windes SECONDER: Rice AYES: Anderson, Peterson, Foreman, Craul, Matern g. 10:50am – Okaloosa County Public Safety funding request Alvin Henderson and Rick Huffnagle presented a beach safety funding request for Okaloosa Island and answered Council questions. h. 11:10am – Destin Fire Control District funding request Fire Chief Kevin Sasser and Division Chief Joe D’Agostino presented a beach safety funding request for Destin beaches and answered Council questions. i. 11:30am – Okaloosa Sheriff’s Department funding request Under-Sheriff Don Adams presented a law enforcement funding request to support the Sheriff’s Department and answered Council questions. Council discussion ensued regarding funding allocation, impact to service levels, and Crab Island. To grant funding of $500,000 to Okaloosa County Public Safety; $550,000 Motion: to Destin Fire Control District, and $125,000 to Okaloosa County Sheriff. Motion of support for Boardwalk fireworks Stephen Smith of the Peterman Agency gave a presentation supporting Boardwalk fireworks. Motion: Authorize Chairman to sign a letter of support.
