We would like to have the tournament on Sat. May 14, 2016. | sent the following to three separate government agencies Okaloosa Island Fire District Emergency Management Services Okaloosa Sheriff's Dept. My Name is Matt Rivest and | own a small business that works in South Okaloosa and South Walton counties. | am also a local beach volleyball player and have been playing volleyball for over (30) years and have been playing at the boardwalk on Okaloosa Island since 2000. Many local players (like me) consider the Boardwalk their "second home". Local players throughout the panhandle of Florida have started a small tour with different stops in different cities. We would like to have a tournament at the Boardwalk on May 14, 2016 and are sending out this email to try to receive written approval from the different agencies that would require it. We would try to have (15 - 20) men's open & (15 - 20) women's open doubles teams for a total of (60 - 80) players. Many of the players would travel from as far as Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and South Florida. This would be a non profit tournament as all monies generated from entry fees and sponsors would be paid right back to the players in prize money. We feel that this would only create a positive impact for local businesses. With (15 - 20 years) of knowledge of the facilities at the boardwalk, we promise to create a safe & friendly environment for all beachgoers and players.
