The reunion will be an important economic generator for the business entities in the county while providing an opportunity to more closely connect with our vital military communities. The reunion and the B-25B’s will surely have a positive impact on the branding, positioning and promotion of Okaloosa County as a destination rich in American heritage and history. The proposed funding would come from two sources. The first amount of $20,000 would come from the Tourist Development Trust Fund, fifth penny “reserve for contingencies” line item. The second amount of $5,000 would come from Northwest Regional Airport marketing funds. The total amount of $25,000 would be used to pay for the expense of the five B-25B aircraft to travel to and from the Destin Airport and perform scheduled fly-by activities. The Tourist Development Department, the Airports Department and special counsel are reviewing this request, and will be prepared to discuss it at the BCC meeting.
