SUPPORTING AMERICA’S MILITARY, VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES
January 29, 2013
Okaloosa County Board of Commissioners
Cathy Cardreon
1804 Lewis Turner Blvd
Ft. Walton Beach, FL 32547
Dear Cathy,
The Fisher House of the Emerald Coast opened in September of 2010 and
provides a home for military families when a family member is undergoing medical
treatment in the local area. There is never a cost for families to stay at the Fisher
House. For this reason, we depend on the community to provide the money needed
to operate the House and provide families with anything needed to keep them
comfortable while their hero is healing.
We are in the process of planning a 5K run to benefit the Fisher House, and would
like your blessing. With your approval, the run will take place November 9, 2013 at
8:30am in Destin. We would like to apply for the applicable permits to close the
road for the course. The course will start at the Village Baptist Church on
Matthew Dr. Go south on Matthew, west on Old 98 to Henderson Beach Inn
and around the dead end circle, then east on 98 to Crab Trap, where
participants will make a U turn sending them west on 98, north on Matthew,
ending at Village Baptist. | have spoken to Mickey Campbell at the church and
received approval to use their parking, stage and restrooms. A post race party, to
include awards, will take place at Legendary Marina, so as soon as the participants
finish the course, they will move to the marina.
Upon approval of this permit, we will secure permission from the Okaloosa County
Sheriff's Department and provide you with a copy of our liability insurance as well
as the $100 fee. If you have any questions, or | am missing something, please do
not hesitate to let me know. Thanks so much for your assistance!
Keeping military families together,
vw Dondero
