BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: May 7, 2013 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: John Hofstad SUBJECT: Budget Transfer Request - Old Antioch Road Project DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Roads Division has a need to replace three batwing mowers that have aged to the point of no longer being practically repairable. Mowing season has begun and immediate replacement of the mowers is needed to meet service levels. Staff is requesting a budget transfer in the amount of $50,000 from the savings realized in the Old Antioch Road Project for the purchase of the three mowers. BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS: For FY12 we budgeted $1M in 3201 and $500,000 in 3202 for Antioch based on cost estimates developed when road construction costs were elevated. Because the actual project bid was significantly lower than previously anticipated and construction was not fully completed in FY12, we asked that $900,000 be budgeted in FY13 for the project. Antioch Road final cost in 3201-563486 is $618,166.29 which is a recognized savings for the FY13 budgeted amount of $281,833.71. It is a total savings, based on the FY12 budget, of $881,833.71. OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove transfer of $50,000 in funds from the Old Antioch Road Improvements Project to a created capital equipment line item in account 3201. RECOMMENDATION: Approve budget transfer as requested for the purchase of the batwing mowers. RECOMMENDED BY: APPROVED BY: Ernie Padgett, County Administrator
