Attention: Mr. Jeff Hyde
RE: Bid No. 08 -119, Hydrated Lime Annual Bid
Dear Mr. Hyde:
Industrial Chemicals, Inc. recently received the award for the above referenced
bid. When we submitted our bid, we mistakenly thought it was for Bulk Lime, and we
bid on that basis. We will be unable to supply bagged lime at our bulk price, so,
regrettably, we will have to ask to be released from this bid.
We apologize for any inconvenience our error has caused for the City of Fort
Walton Beach. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to give us a call at
1- 800 -476 -2042.
Sincerely,
INDUSTRIAL CHEMICALS, INC.

CITY COUNCIL MEETING

Consent Agenda
Consideration of acceptance of the Local Mitigation

Agenda Item Number: 4
City ofFort Walton Beach
Memorandum
Date: August 19, 2008
To: Joyce Shanahan, City Manager
From: Thomas Murray, Public Works Director
Subject: Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS) Status of Plan Implementation 2008
Background:
This item is provided for informational purposes only.
The City of Fort Walton Beach participates in the Federal Emergency Management Agency' s
FEMA) Community Rating System ( CRS) for the National Flood Insurance Program.
Essentially, through governmental efforts to mitigate local hazards, the community residents
become eligible for flood insurance discounts. Currently, the City' s CRS rating provides a 15%
flood insurance discount for special flood hazard areas.
Discussion:
One requirement for the CRS rating is that " an annual report on evaluating progress toward
implementing the action plan' s objectives and /or the recommendations of the area analyses" be
submitted to the governing body, released to the media, made available to the public, and
included as part of the community' s annual recertification." This agenda item, which provides
the attached Status of Plan Implementation report dated August 19, 2008, satisfies that
requirement. The Status of Plan Implementation report was prepared by the Okaloosa County
Comprehensive Plan Committee, which is a multi jurisdictional body ( including the City of Fort
Walton Beach) having the responsibility for preparing that report.
No action by the City Council is necessary; the only requirement is for the City Council to
receive this item as information and document that receipt in the meeting minutes.
