The Workforce Development Board of Okaloosa and Walton Counties requests the
review and consideration for approval of a revision to the Interlocal Agreement
between the Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners and the Walton
County Board of County Commissioners (Attachment A — Current Agreement.)
The request is mandated to ensure compliance with the implementation of Chapter.
2012-29, L.O.F. (Workforce Accountability Act), specifically related to the
Regional Workforce Board Membership.
The 2012 Workforce Accountability Act dictates Workforce Board composition
changes in the twenty-four Florida Workforce Development Boards. For
compliance, adjustments of the Interlocal Agreement (Attachment B — Proposed
Agreement) are recommended for your review/approval. Changes are included in
“green” font.
Attachment C (2013 Membership Regional Workforce Board) outlines the
individual names/sectors/role for the Board of Okaloosa County Commissioners
review/approval. The Workforce Development Board composition prior to the
Workforce Accountability Act was at 38 members. To meet the required sector and
membership number composition, the voting membership for the Workforce Board
will be limited to 29 members. As required, the composition of the Board remains
majority private sector driven.
We thank the Board of County Commissioners for the Okaloosa County
nominations and appointments of Board members serving on the Workforce Board.
The member selections and appointments have been valuable in the success of the
Workforce Board and activities.
I would like to take this opportunity to also recognize and thank the volunteer
Workforce Board members for the success of Workforce Board and Council
activities. The greatest tangible contributions given by the Board and Council
members are their commitment to services, personal time, efforts, and expertise.
