BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: April 7, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: Okaloosa Lane Right-of-way acquisition payment DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: 1 STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Public Works has received a signed Warranty Deed for the Bobby G. Kennedy, Jr. parcel as right-of-way acquisition in conjunction with the Okaloosa Lane paving and stormwater improvements. BACKGROUND: Staff is in the process of obtaining the necessary right-of-way along Okaloosa Lane to pave the existing dirt portion from Shoal River Middle School north to Aplin Road. Mr. Bobby G. Kennedy, Jr. has returned the executed Warranty Deed to Public Works granting the County his entire tract so as to accommodate the required right-of-way adjacent to the parcel he owned. As part of the acquisition effort staff had third party appraisals performed and a value of $10,000 was assigned to the parcel of land required from Mr. Bobby G. Kennedy, Jr. and he has agreed to accept the appraised value of $10,000 for the entire tract acquisition and has returned his signed Warranty Deed with the expectation of payment by the County. This is the second of seven parcels required from private property owners in order to construct the project; efforts continue to obtain all other remaining parcels. OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove acceptance and recording of the warranty deed for necessary right-of-way along Okaloosa Lane and for payment of $10,000 to the Grantor; Mr. Bobby G.
