BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: October 18, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Elliot Kampert SUBJECT: JBGVC Subrecipient Agreement Justice for Families Grant DEPARTMENT: Growth Management BCC DISTRICT: ALL STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Department of Growth Management requests that the Board authorize the Chairman to sign the Subrecipient agreement between Okaloosa County and Judge Ben Gordon, Jr. Visitation Center (JBGVC) to allow JBGVC to implement the Department of Justice’s Justice for Families grant. BACKGROUND: Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women, Justice of Families federal grant was awarded to Okaloosa County on August 23, 2016 in the amount of $557,329. The start date for the grant is October 1, 2016. The Board approved the application for this grant on January 19, 2016. The grant will allow for the expansion of services for victims of domestic violence by relocating the Shalimar Center to an Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant location that will satisfy the federal safety standards; the continuation of funding for the provision of services at the Crestview location; and funding for required technical assistance and training for all partners. RECOMMENDATION: The Department of Growth Management requests that the Board authorize the Chairman to sign the attached Subrecipient agreement between Okaloosa County and Judge Ben Gordon, Jr. Visitation Center (JBGVC) to allow JBGVC to implement the Department of Justice’s Justice for Families grant.
