Okaloosa County Airports State of Florida January 7, 2015 Mr. Timothy W. Bennett, AF-A3-5 Chief, Civil & Foreign Government Access Directorate of Operations Headquarters United States Air Force 300 Cloudes Mill Way Alexandria, VA 22304 Dear Mr. Bennett: On behalf of Okaloosa County, we respectfully request that the United States Air Force extend its Joint Use Agreement (JUA) with the County. The current JUA expiration date of February 26, 2031 is inconsistent with the expiration date of the lease for the 3.7 acres on Eglin for the construction, operation and maintenance of an Aircraft Rescue and fire Fighting Facility (USAF-AFMC-FTFA-14- 2-0030). The new JUA expiration date required by the FAA should be coterminous with the December 19, 2038 expiration of the referenced lease. FAA requires that the County have operating rights sufficient to amortize the investment of Federal grant funds provided for a project. As you are aware, the FAA has provided $2.7 million toward the construction of the ARFF. Thank you for your assistance in securing this extension. Sincerely, Okaloosa County Airports 1701 State Road 85 N Eglin Air Force Base, Florida 32542-1498 (850) 651-7160 FAX: (850) 651-7164
