BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: April 7, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: Special Event Permit - Dream in Gold Volleyball Clinic DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: Two STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Southern Events Management, Inc., has requested permission to utilize county beach area to conduct a two day volleyball tournament. BACKGROUND and ANALYSIS: County Ordinance #13-07 (regulation of county recreational areas, including parks and beaches) addresses Special Events at county parks, beaches, or recreational areas within Okaloosa County. A request has been received from Southern Events Management, Inc., to conduct a two day volleyball clinic near the Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island. The event would take place beginning Saturday, May 30th and would continue through Sunday, May 31st between the hours of 7:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. each day. Setup for the event would begin Thursday, May 29th and final break down would take place Monday, June 1st. This request has been reviewed by Public Works, Public Safety, the Sheriff’s Office and the Tourist Development Department. The Lessee at the Boardwalk has concurred with the request. OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve the request for a Special Event permit for Southern Events Management to conduct a 2-day volleyball clinic to be held on the County beach adjacent to the Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island as submitted by Southern Events Management.
