BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
AGENDA REQUEST
DATE: February 16, 2016
TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board
FROM: Ed Schroeder
SUBJECT: ECCC Mobile Device Charging Stations
DEPARTMENT: Tourist Development Department
BCC DISTRICT: 2,4,5
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) for
Emerald Coast Convention Center mobile device charging stations and appoint members of the
review committee.
BACKGROUND: Staff continually reviews industry trends to identify service enhancements to
keep the Emerald Coast Convention Center (ECCC) competitive in the market. Mobile device
charging stations are being provided with increased frequency at convention center venues to
enable attendees to charge their phones and tablets while on-site. Ideally, there would be no cost
to the ECCC and a portion of revenues would be remitted to the ECCC. Staff requests
permission to issue a solicitation for mobile device charging stations to evaluate what carriers,
services, and pricing arrangements are available.
The following RFP review committee members are proposed: General Manager, Convention
Services Manager, and a Tourist Development Council representative. The Purchasing
Department will coordinate the process and serve as a facilitator for meetings of the review
committee.
OPTIONS: Approve or Disapprove
RECOMMENDATION: Issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) for tourism website hosting &
maintenance services and appoint the aforementioned members of the review committee.
