Box 4331 Fort Walton Beach, FL 32549 January 2, 2013 Okaloosa County Sheriff Office Attn: Sheriff Larry R. Ashley 1250 North Eglin Pkwy Shalimar, FL 32579 Dear Sheriff Ashley, The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr (MLK) Celebration Committee of Okaloosa County is requesting funds from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund (LETF) in the amount of $2,000. Your contribution last year enabled us to put on a first class event for our community and at the same time helped provide positive and constructive activities for our youth. Our continued mission is to support Dr, King’s ideas in the areas of education, awareness, and social interaction. It is the continued aim of the Committee to bring the community together in a spirit of unity to build lasting relationships. The funds will be used to help carry out a Youth Oratorical/Poster Contest, a Memorial Service Program, Parade, Rally and After-Rally Activities. All free of charge to any participant. The MLK Jr. Observance committee is a sub-committee of the Ministerial Alliance. Under the auspices of the Ministry Alliance, the program pushes to educate young people by forming community groups of children from ages 6 to 18 and providing them with alternatives to criminal, non-constructive activity. As you know, our communities today are riddled with unhealthy influences. Daily, children in the FWB area are tempted by bullying, drug use, theft and violence. Being involved in MLK activities are directly related to preventing crime, helping to establish safe neighborhoods, and increasing awareness of the perils of drug abuse. We solicit your support through the use of the LETF and the physical appearance of you and your Deputies at some of the events. As a supporter of the commemoration, you will be providing positive youth alternatives to negative crime and drug activities that currently exist in some of our neighbors. We look forward to your positive approval of this request. If you need any additional information, you may contact me at (850) 863-4755 or via email at Wjavtj}@embargmail.com or Mr Sabu Williams, 850-376-1346. Respectfully, ~<f Caw yt, uu a) ol he Rev.
