Beedic, Acting City Manager From: Michael Beedie, Engineering & Utility Services Director Date: June 26, 2012 Subject: Grant of Pedestrian Easement at 233 Alconese Ave SE BACKGROUND: 1. 1. In October 2011, City Council accepted a grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for improvements to the Brooks Landing waterfront area. 2. DISCUSSION: 2. 1. During the design of the project, it was discovered that a 15 -foot wide pedestrian easement was required for the pedestrian bridge that will link the new waterfront revitalized area to the Alconese Pier. The easement is needed through the southern portion of the Bay Cafe parking lot, which is located between the FDOT Brooks Bridge right -of -way and the City' s Alconese Avenue SE right -of -way. 2.2. City staff discussed the design and placement of the bridge and the need for the easement with the property owner, Julian Lorant, who has signed the easement document. 3. FINANCIAL INFORMATION: 3. 1. There is no direct financial impact to the City. 4. RECOMMENDATION: 4. 1. Staff respectfully requests City Council authorization to execute and record a pedestrian easement located at 233 Alconese Avenue SE in conjunction with the Brooks Landing Waterfront Revitalization Project.
