BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: December 1, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Elliot Kampert SUBJECT: SHIP 2008/2009 Annual Report Certification DEPARTMENT: Growth Management BCC DISTRICT: ALL STATEMENT OF ISSUE: To continue to participate in the State Housing Incentives Partnership (SHIP) program, the County must approve the FY 2008/2009 SHIP Annual Report and sign the Certification. BACKGROUND: Part VII of Chapter 420 of the Florida Statutes creates the State Housing Incentives Partnership (SHIP) program which provides funds for the provision of affordable housing. Since 1993, the Okaloosa Community Development Corporation (OCDC) has served as the County’s SHIP Program Administrator. As part of this function, the OCDC must annually update the status of the open SHIP allocations. The attached report for FY 2008/2009 must be approved by the Board so that the OCDC can forward them to the Housing Finance Corporation which oversees the SHIP Program. This item was not brought to the Board by OCDC in 2009 and in order to receive the SHIP 2015/2016 allocation it must be completed at this time. RECOMMENDATION: The Growth Management Department requests that the Board approve the 2008/2009 SHIP Annual Reports and sign the Certification, and authorize them to be transmitted to the Florida Housing Finance Corporation.
