BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: March 1, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Elliot Kampert SUBJECT: Request Approval of Agreement with Regional Planning Council for Support of Transit Cooperative DEPARTMENT: Growth Management BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Consideration of Agreement with West Florida Regional Planning Council to provide clerical and administrative support services to the Transit Cooperative. BACKGROUND: The Regional Planning Council has offered to provide professional administrative support for the Transit Cooperative, including preparation of agendas, minutes (taking and transcribing), and advertising of meetings. The cost of the service would be split 50-50, with the RPC using grant funds it receives, and the County using grant funds it receives. The cost to each party is not to exceed $32,000 per year and the Agreement is for two years. No County funds are required for this contract; grant funds are available for this Agreement. Having the RPC involved would be of great value by not only relieving County staff of these tasks, but also because the RPC is heavily involved in a wide variety of transportation related initiatives. This Agreement will open the door on a lot of potential opportunities and resources. OPTIONS: The Board may approve the Agreement or not approve. RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners authorize the Chairman to sign the proposed Agreement with the Regional Planning Council, and that one of the fully executed copies be returned to the RPC, and one placed with the Transit Cooperative files.
