Berrydale: the aftermath of the Road Camp 12 fire

The reverse caption describes blanket-covered prisoners’ bodies outside the barracks awaiting transfer to a morgue after the July 16 fire. It reports 37 deaths, 14 escapes and six severely burned prisoners. It attributes the fire to rioting prisoners; that is the contemporary wire-service account, not an independently established finding of this archive.
