STATEMENT OF ISSUE: A proposed Agreement with PlaneNoise to collect aircraft noise
complaints and develop monthly data reports of impacted areas around the Destin/Ft. Walton
Beach Airport is being presented to the Board of County Commissioners for approval.
BACKGROUND: The Department of Airports in conjunction with the Destin/Ft. Walton Beach
Airport Compatibility and Advisory Committee (ACAC) has identified the need to enter into an
Agreement with PlaneNoise to install a complaint box system at the Destin/Ft. Walton Beach
Airport. The complaint box is a proprietary fully automated noise monitoring system designed
to automatically collect aircraft noise complaints via a dedicated telephone hotline and online
webform twenty four hours a day. The PlaneNoise system will analyze the complaints in
realtime by location, type of noise concern, and distinct households. PlaneNoise will also
generate monthly reports and maps of impacted areas. The contract and lease internal
coordination sheet is attached along with PlaneNoise's certificate of insurance.
OPTIONS: Approve, Reject or Table.
RECOMMENDATIONS: It is Staff's recommendation that the Board approve this Agreement
as described above.
