STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Solid Waste Department requests write-off of uncollectable
Accounts Receivable funds from Solid Waste Haulers, a local limited liability contracting
company, owned and operated by W. Todd Schweizer and Joshua T. Schweizer, in addition to
miscellaneous cash owed by Vince Czarnecki.
BACKGROUND: Solid Waste Haulers failed to pay $12,185.96 in tip fees for the customers
they serviced. Several collection attempts made to collect were unsuccessful and the debt was
turned over to a collection agency, which was also unsuccessful at recovering the debt. Solid
Waste Haulers sold their hauling business in January 2013.
Request to write off an uncollected $37.85 from a cash customer that failed to return to the
scalehouse with their payment.
OPTIONS: Approve / Disapprove
RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve a total write-off in the amount of $12,223.81
