Mr. Mayor and Members of the Council,
As we see all too often, bureaucrats with nothing at stake in a particular issue are making
grossly poor decisions based on outdated, faulty or fabricated data.
A comprehensive stock assessment of our gulf fisheries was ordered by Congress in 2006
and here we are in 2010 with no progress and the livelihood of many of our fellow
Citizens in jeopardy
The time has come for aggressive and pointed action to get the stock assessment
completed and a fair and reasonable fisheries management plan put into place.
I commend the Council for taking this action and I fully support this resolution.
Thank you and I will help in any way that I can to push HR1584 and S1255 to passage.
