BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: July 7, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: Gulf Power Underground Distribution Easement to BCC Property as requested by the Sheriff's Office DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: 1 STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Gulf Power is requesting an underground distribution easement to supply electrical service to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Firearms and Tactical Training Facility on Grimes Avenue in Crestview. BACKGROUND: At the October 1, 2013 BCC meeting, Don Adams, Undersheriff, requested that the Board of County Commissioners purchase the property encompassing the Sheriff's Firearms and Tactical Training Facility (firing range). The Board of County Commissioners unanimously voted to purchase the 8.91 acre parcel for $89,000.00 from Wingard Family, LLC. Gulf Power currently supplies the firing range by overhead power which prohibits the full utilization of one of the firing positions. The upgrade to underground power will solve this issue and will be an overall improvement for the entire facility. Gulf Power has prepared the easement to be executed which will grant access from the right-of-way of Grimes Avenue to the property. All costs associated with the power line relocation will be borne by the Sheriff's Office. OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove acceptance and recording of the easement.
