Authority m w 13 14 a. The City is authorized to adopt amendments to its Comprehensive Plan pursuant o 15 to Home Rule Powers, the Local Government Comprehensive Planning and Land Development 16 Regulation Act, and section 2 of the City Charter. c C 17 18 b. The intent of this ordinance is to revise the Economic Development Element of wV 19 the City's Comprehensive Plan, as codified in Volume III of the City' s Code. 20 a W 21 C. On. 2011, the Municipal Planning Board acting as the Local d 22 Planning Agency, upon application of the City, considered the request and recommended 23 approval of the adoption of the Economic Development Element. c 0 24 0 25 d. On . 2011, and 2011, the City Council 26 considered the recommendation of the Local Planning Agency and the coordination and 27 consistency of these amendments with the other elements of the Comprehensive Plan. 28 W 29 e. The City Council has provided for full public participation in the comprehensive w 30 planning and amendment process and has considered and responded to public comments. vm 31 32 Section 2. Repeal of the Current Economic Development Element v 0 33 The Economic Development Element as currently adopted in the City' s Comprehensive 34 Plan is hereby repealed in its entirety, as displayed in the attached " Exhibit A — FORT WALTON 2 35 BEACH COMPREHENSIVE PLAN, ELEMENT I- ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ELEMENT." 36 v E 37 Section 3. Adoption of the Amended Economic Development Element 38 The amended Economic Development Element of the City' s Comprehensive Plan is z ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT 39 hereby adopted as displayed in the attached " Exhibit B — a 40 ELEMENT." 41 42 Section 4. Conflicting Provisions 43 To the extent of any conflict between other City ordinances and this ordinance, this 44 ordinance shall be deemed to be controlling. 45 46 Section S. Severability Packet Pg. 105  F12 .1. 0 47 If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this ordinance is, for 48 any reason, held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decisions of any court of competent 49 jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions thereof. 50 51 Section 6.
