The program has grown to where it now services a population base of approximately a half
million people and collects in excess of 800,000 pounds of material annually.
The grants pay up to 75% of each county’s event cost with the “neighboring county” being
responsible for the balance. The total amount of $116,500 allocated for the neighboring counties
is broken down as follows:
Calhoun - ($8,500) Jackson - ($24,000)
Franklin - ($8,500) Liberty - ($5,000)
Gadsden - ($7,000) Santa Rosa - ($17,500)
Gulf - ($7,000) Walton - ($25,000)
Holmes - ($6,000) Washington - ($8,000)
Okaloosa County receives $100,000 under the agreement to utilize in providing Household
Hazardous Waste (HHW) services to Okaloosa residents at no charge.
The proposed agreement has been reviewed by appropriate staff for sufficiency.
OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove
RECOMMENDATIONS: That the Board authorizes the Chairman to execute the Cooperative
Arrangement Agreements with FDEP and any subsequent documents related to the grants such
as status reporting, reimbursement request, modifications, change orders, etc.
