Background: In FY 2004, Okaloosa County entered into the first contract with Okaloosa County Correctional Institution (OCI) to provide inmate labor to support our Parks Department. By contracting with OCI to provide a Corrections Officer, we can utilize a prison inmate squad numbering up to five inmates, depending on availability, and provide additional labor at a low cost. These crews have been utilized county wide and they continue to provide additional manpower that has allowed us to finish projects in a timely manner. The existing contract is nearing expiration and a new contract has been prepared. The new contract is for one (1) year beginning March 12, 2013. The contract has a renewal option of one (1) additional one (1) year period. Cost of the contract renewal is $58,004.00 which is the same as last year's amount. Funds for the contract renewal were identified in the Parks FY 2013 budget. Options: Approve/disapprove Recommendations: Approve contract renewal #WS805 with the Florida Department of Corrections and authorize Chairman to sign contract.
