SUBJECT: Contract/Lease Renewal

STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Contract for hazardous waste disposal related services renewed in
October 2012 on an as needed basis. However, after further review by Contracts and Grants it
was determined that FY 2012 expenses had exceeded the $50,000 threshhold ($50,600) and
recommended that the FY 2013 renewal required Board approval.
BACKGROUND: Contract was taken to Board in 2008 for contract extension and subsequently
allowed for renewals through Sep 30, 2012. Services are rendered on an as needed basis
depending on the volume of material received from Okaloosa County's permanent household
hazardous waste operations and ten mobile collections in ten neighboring counties. The Public
Works Department is budgeting $75,000 in FY 2013.
Expenses are reimbursed through the FDEP HHW Cooperative Arrangement Grants which was
approved by the Board on January 22, 2013.
OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove
RECOMMENDATIONS: Request that the Board approve the agreement and authorize the
Chairman to execute the appropriate documentation.
