STREET LIGHT AT SEAL PARKWAY AND HUGHES STREET Request Council direction on plans by the Florida Oepartment of Transportation to add a traffic light at Beal Parkway and Hughes Street as part of the FOOT Resurfacing Project. The City Manager informed that FOOT has completed their schedule for the resurfacing of Beal Parkway, and that a traffic light will be installed at the intersection of Beal Parkway and Hughes Street as part of the project. She explained that in 1995 a request was made to have a traffic signal installed at the site by Ready Bank, and FOOT responded it would be added as part of the resurfacing project. However, in 2004, the City decided the signal wasn' t needed and another letter was sent to FOOT requesting the light not be installed. She wanted Council to be aware the traffic light is part of the resurfacing project by FOOT, and if Council so desires, a letter can be sent to FOOT challenging the placement of the light. Mr.Tucker moved to write a letter to FOOT requesting the signal be removed from the project. Mr. Patterson seconded motion. Further discussion included the fact that the light will slow traffic at Beal Parkway; that the officials from Ready Bank that requested the light in 1995 are no longer there and no new requests have been made from the bank for a light; and that the intersection is very dangerous and a light would be a good idea. Mr. Tucker withdrew his motion. Mr. Patterson withdrew his second. The City Manager confirmed that no action would be taken from Council and the light would be installed according to FOOT's plans.
