SUBJECT: Animal Control Contract Renewal for FY 2014

STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Renew the contract for Animal Control Services with the
Panhandle Animal Welfare Society, Inc., for FY 2014 in the amount of $466,000.00.
BACKGROUND: Okaloosa County contracts with the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society,
Inc., to provide animal control services within the unincorporated areas of Okaloosa County.
This contract is renewed annually. The proposed renewal amount of $466,000.00 is the same as
last year’s contract, which is disbursed in quarterly payments of $116,500.00. The level of
service provided will be the same as the current year’s contract.
OPTIONS: Approve the contract, renegotiate the contract, or request bids from other agencies.
RECOMMENDATIONS: The Department recommends approving the renewal contract.
