BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: February 17, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Zan Fedorak SUBJECT: Contract Approval for Waste Tire Disposal DEPARTMENT: Purchasing BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval of contract with Little Tire Hauling, Inc. for tire waste disposal and authorization for the Chairman to sign the contract (PW 05-15). BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: The Public Works - Recycling Division requested a solicitation for tire waste disposal. This service was solicited three times and during these solicitations Little Tire Hauling, Inc. was the only company to respond at a price of $125.00 per ton. This service is required by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). To ensure our compliance with this regulatory requirement, Little Tire Hauling was allowed to continue to perform the service while the contract process was completed. Staff also requests authorization to make the contract retroactive to January 1, 2015 to allow for payment of invoices which are due for the interim period. The total of these invoices is $1797.50. The annual budgeted amount for this service is $12,000. The contract is for two (2) years with four (4) one (1) year renewals. OPTIONS: Approve/Deny the contract with Little Tire Hauling, Inc. for tire waste disposal and authorize the Chairman to sign the contract (PW 05-15). RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the contract with Little Tire Hauling, Inc. for tire waste disposal and authorization for the Chairman to sign the contract (PW 05-15).
