STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Purchasing seeks authorization from the Board to terminate Lease
Agreement with Sprint/Nextel
BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: Public Safety has requested that Purchasing petition the
Board for authorization to terminate the lease with Sprint/Nextel (L06-0275-PS) for the site
located at 1250T North Eglin Parkway, Shalimar. This lease involves a communications site
agreement (tower) dated June 6, 2006. Nextel utilizes the site for a communications facility and
the necessary equipment. Public Safety desires to terminate the lease whenever Nextel vacates
and surrenders the site or effective October 31, 2014, whichever occurs first. Sprint/Nextel has
agreed to terminate the lease. Staff also requests authorization for the Chairman to sign the lease
termination.
OPTIONS: Approve/Reject terminating lease with Sprint/Nextel (L06-0275-PS).
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends terminating lease with Sprint/Nextel (L06-0275-
PS).
