to the Future Land Use Map Series: The Future Land Use Maps may be amended
by following the process specified for making land use map amendments in the LDC. It is not
necessary to amend the Future Land Use Maps when a rezoning occurs within the same land use
category or when a down -zoning occurs to lessen density or intensity of development within the
same land use category.

Zoning Maps: The LDC will contain the Zoning Code of the Code of Ordinances4 for the City of

Fort Walton Beach, as well as, the Official Zoning map. The Zoning Code and Official Zoning
Maps are designed to implement the Future Land Use Maps. Thus, within any given future land
use category there may be one or more zoning districts considered consistent with a particular
future land use designation. For example, the future land use designation " MEDIUM DENSITY
RESIDENTIAL" category includes several zoning districts, R -2 and R -2A, the uses in which are
permitted on lands within that future land use designation.

Implementation of the Future Land Series: The Future Land Use Map Series will be
implemented through inclusion within the LDC of the necessary implementation techniques
required to promote, control and regulate -land uses. Those techniques include a zoning
ordinance, subdivision regulations,
urban design standards and any other- land management
devices necessary to implement FLUE Policy A. 1- 2 as well as other ordinances controlling land
development or construction practices.

Section 3. Conflicting Provisions
To the extent of any conflict between other City ordinances and this ordinance, this
ordinance shall be deemed to be controlling.

Section 4. Severability

If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, phrase or portion of this ordinance is, for any
reason,
held to be invalid or unconstitutional by the decisions of any court of competent
jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions thereof.

Section 5. Effective Date
This Ordinance shall become effective when the state land planning agency issues a final
order determining that the adopted amendment is in compliance, or, if applicable, when the
Administration Commission issues a final order determining the adopted amendment to be in
compliance.
