Catherine Taylor, President Okaloosa Island Leaseholders Association Begin forwarded message: From: Eric Jorgensen <ejorgens@yahoo.com> Subject: Additional Street Light Request on Okaloosa Island from The Breakers Date: April 8, 2013 11:51:29 PM CDT To: "cattaylor1@cox.net" <cattaylor1@cox.net> Reply-To: Eric Jorgensen <ejorgens@yahoo.com> Cathy, Here is the electronic version of the request I gave you at the meeting Monday evening. If you need any other actions just let me know. Eric <Santa_Rosa_Blvd.pdf> Board of Directors 8 April 2013 The Breakers of Fort Walton Beach 381 Santa Rosa Blvd Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548 Okaloosa Island Leaseholders Association, INC. P.O. Box 8116 Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548-8116 Subject: Additional Streetlight on Okaloosa Island Request that a street light be placed on county pole P-172824 to provide illumination of the Santa Rosa boulevard intersection adjacent to the West parking lot entrance of the Breakers of FWB condominium complex under the Municipal Services Benefit Unit (MSBU) program for Okaloosa Island. Current illumination of the East bound lanes of Santa Rosa Blvd from approximately 200 ft East of Abalone Ct. East (P-172820) to beach freeway access #1 (P-172835), a total distance of approximately 1750 ft, consists of only one light near the East boundary of The Breakers of FWB and the Best Western on county pole P-172828. This light is approximately 1100ft from street light near Abalone Ct. (P-172820) and approximately 650 ft from the street light near beach freeway access #1 (P-172835) In comparison to other boulevard street lights, specifically street lights that are mounted on wooden poles, the general spacing on both the North and South sides of the boulevard varies between approximately 180 ft and 360 ft. The only exception to this spacing seems to be associated with the newer concrete high tension poles on the South side of the boulevard. As a method to illustrate this, a count of total poles and poles with county lights illuminating the South side of the boulevard was conducted. The boulevard was divided into three areas with the East and West ends of Okaloosa Island having wooden power poles and the central area having the concrete power poles. • The East area consisted of 10 lights mounted on 12 wooden poles, approx 80% coverage. • The Central area consisted of 9 lights mounted on 25 concrete poles, approx 40% coverage. • The West area consisted of 21 lights mounted on 28 wooden poles, approx 75% coverage. The spacing between county street lights, if the proposed light is installed, will still exceed the maximum average spacing indicated above with a distance to Abalone Ct. (P-172820) being approximately 610 ft and to P-172828 (East property boundary of The Breakers) being approximately 490 ft. No new light pole is being requested and the use of the existing power pole is preferred. The distance from power pole P-172824 to the entrance center line is approximately 40 ft. If approved, it is requested that the light be oriented as much as feasibly possible to illuminate the intersection/entrance area of the boulevard. Respectfully Eric Jorgensen Agent for the Board of Directors of The Breakers of Fort Walton Beach, Fl 1057 E. John Sims Pkwy Niceville, FL. 32578 April 19, 2013 Okaloosa Island MSBU Okaloosa County Fort Walton Beach, FL To Whom It May Concern: I am writing to you in reference to the intersection of Santa Rosa Boulevard and West parking lot entrance of the Breakers of FWB on Okaloosa Island. There are Gulf Power facilities which are existing here and this infrastructure can support another light on the Gulf Power Pole P-172824. We can install a 250watt Cobrahead (this would match the other lights in the area) and the additional cost would be around $14.62 per month with no installation cost. This work could be completed within five business days. We value you as a customer and enjoy doing business with you. If you have any questions, I will be happy to assist you, call 850-244-4745.
