Hof st ad stated an application has been received from Cindy Frakes to be considered as the Board ' s citizen appointment to the 2016 Value Adjustment Board (VAB) . Mrs . OLD BUSINESS POLICY AND PROCEDURE REGARDING DISPOSITION OF UNCLAIMED REMAINS OF DECEASED PERSONS Mr . Hofstad stated this item is a continuation of the discussion from the last meeting . He said the subject is consideration of a resolution defining the policy and procedure for disposition of unclaimed remains of deceased persons . Mr . Stewart stated the purpose of the proposed resolution is to make certain the previously adopted policy is in conformity with law and provide uniform guidelines pursuant to Chapter 405 , Florida Statutes . Mrs . Ketchel stated she is deeply involved in this issue and she does not believe the funeral homes will want to do the necessary research like staff has done . Secondly , she asked for the Sheriff ' s Office to become involved in the program . Discussion ensued with Mr . Harris and Mrs . Ketchel citing how much money is involved in operation of the program and how much staff time is required . Mrs . Ketchel felt staff should be directed to again look at this matter to determine if a staff person should be responsible for the research and administration and the Sheriff ' s Office should be contacted to see if it is willing to become involved . Mr . Harris was of the opinion a facility (funeral home) could be found which agrees to handle the entire process . Mr . Stewart stated when he began to look into this issue , he found that it is an extremely time-consuming process . He said staff decided to test the market place and incorporate the background research regarding indigency status into the request for bids. Mr . Stewart stated it is unknown whether or not a funeral home will be willing to do this . He said al though it is a time- consuming process , it would not be a full - time workload for a staff person . Mrs . Ketchel renewed her recommendation to table this item for a deeper look and made motion , seconded by Mr. Boyles to table. Mr . Boyles asked if this motion includes direction for staff to see what neighboring counties , Walton and Santa Rosa , do . June 21 , 2016 -14- Minute Book 74 , Page 291 Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners He also asked if this can be scheduled for the next meeting . Mr . Stewart replied in the affirmative . PUBLIC COMMENTS Mr . Pete Peterson came forward to voice concern about the request to vacate right-of-way in Block 6 in his neighborhood (Bay View Subdivision) . He asked for information on when this will be discussed . Mr . Stewart replied there will also be a public hearing to consider a rezoning request in that area as well . Mr . Kampert advised the issue will be before the Planning Commission on July 19 . Mr . Stewart stated both the rezoning request and vacation request will be before the Board on August 16 at 6 : 30 p . m. Mr . Kampe rt clarified that the Planning Commission will only hear comments on the rezoning request . Mr . Raymond Mccloud stated he lives across the street from the alley which has been requested to be vacated . He voiced concern about the safety of the subdivision and access by emergency vehicles . Mr . Mccloud also stated he is worried commercial enterprises are getting too close to the residential area . Mr . Boyles commented that he will need to hear facts regarding these two issues and why the proposed changes would be detrimental .
