followed in the footsteps of the county with the 12 resolution as well. 13 And I'm not going to read it but I would 14 acknowledge that, you know, it has been received very 15 well, and hopefully that project will be -- you know, 16 there is funds, and hopefully that project will be under 17 way, in the not-too-distant future. All right. Let's go 18 to the minutes of the April 24th meeting, our last 19 scheduled monthly meeting. 20 Y'all have had the minutes, so I will be -- ask for 21 a motion to approve. 22 MR. DIXON: I'll make a motion to approve. 23 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Tuffy Dixon makes a motion to 24 approve. 25 VICE-CHAIRMAN RICE: And I second. Destin Reporting & Technology Group (850) 837-5078 scheduling@destinreporting.com 5 1 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Tom Rice seconds. 2 We also need to approve the minutes of our May 8th 3 budget meeting. 4 MS. JOYCE: There is a change needs to be made on 5 that. 6 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Okay. 7 MS. JOYCE: I had it in our package as page 22, it 8 had me voting in favor of the chamber's increase, and I 9 actually voted against. 10 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Okay, let's see. 11 MS. JOYCE: I had it as page 2 in my packet, but 12 looks like pages -- none have changed. 13 MR SCHROEDER: It's on page 19 now. 14 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Page 19? 15 MR. SCHROEDER: And "ayes", it's Gossom, Rigdon and 16 Windes, and Peterson, and Joyce. 17 MS. JOYCE: And I actually voted no. 18 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Okay. 19 MR. SCHROEDER: Make that correction. 20 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: And I'll entertain a motion to 21 approve with that correction. 22 VICE-CHAIRMAN RICE: I'll make the motion to 23 approve. 24 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Tom Rice has made the motion. 25 MR. DIXON: I'll second. Destin Reporting & Technology Group (850) 837-5078 scheduling@destinreporting.com 6 1 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: And Tuffy Dixon will second. 2 All right. Moving right along is, we're going to 3 go into the director's update. Ed? 4 MR. SCHROEDER: There are four items in our agenda 5 there, and we don't need a whole lot of comment. 6 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Oh, pardon me. Pardon me. All 7 those in favor of the approving the TDC minutes last 8 meeting say aye. 9 (Ayes) 10 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Anyone opposed? Motion 11 carries. 12 Also, all those in favor of approving the budget 13 meeting minutes of May 8th as revised, signify by saying 14 aye. 15 (Ayes) 16 THE CHAIRPERSON: Anyone opposed? Motion carries. 17 Sorry, Ed. 18 MR. SCHROEDER: The Smith Mayer report is certainly 19 there for you to look at. If you have any questions 20 about it, I'd be glad to try to answer those. Moving on 21 to page 29 is the film commissioners report. See she's 22 been pretty busy this month. And that's followed by two 23 reports from the two chambers. 24 And unless you have any questions, that concludes 25 my report. Destin Reporting & Technology Group (850) 837-5078 scheduling@destinreporting.com 7 1 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Anyone have any comments or 2 thoughts? All right. We're going to move right on then, 3 to the financial update from Charlotte Dunworth. Thank 4 you. 5 MS. DUNWORTH: I will start by reviewing the tax 6 collector's report specifically. I'm on page 382 of your 7 packet. And I just wanted to point out that March 8 collections tourist development collections are down 9 merely 10% compared to March of 2013, but we are still up 10 approximately 1.5% year-to-date compared to prior year. 11 Walton and Bay were also down -- were down actually more 12 than we were. They are citing Easter in April rather 13 than in March last year as the cause for that. 14 According to news articles, states throughout the 15 southeast canceled or shortened Spring Break to make up 16 for winter school closings due to the bad weather this 17 winter season. So we believe that the best course of 18 action is to combine the March and the April months to 19 get a truer comparison for this year compared to last 20 year's. 21 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Okay. 22 MS. DUNWORTH: And then if there are no other 23 questions we will move into the film update, which begins 24 on page 47. And again, typically I'd talk about a -- an 25 annual revenue project, but I think I'm going to reserve Destin Reporting & Technology Group (850) 837-5078 scheduling@destinreporting.com 8 1 that discussion until we have the April data for the 2 reasons I just mentioned. 3 And then I'm happy to entertain any questions that 4 you may have regarding the expense by percentage. 5 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Anyone have any questions or 6 comments? Okay. 7 MS. DUNWORTH: And then just to point out that we 8 have the REV PAR again on page 51, and that the 9 expenditure transaction analysis report is being provided 10 in the beginning on page 53 to assist the TDC in 11 identifying unauthorized expenditures. This report is 12 for the month of April. 13 And if I could get a motion, Mr. Chairman. 14 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: All right. I will entertain a 15 motion to approve the March financial -- or the March -- 16 month-end financial -- 17 VICE-CHAIRMAN RICE: Report. 18 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Report. So move? 19 MR. RIGDON: I move for the motion. 20 VICE-CHAIRMAN RICE: Second. 21 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Tom Rice seconds. All those in 22 favor say aye. 23 (Ayes) 24 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Anyone opposed? Motion 25 carries. Destin Reporting & Technology Group (850) 837-5078 scheduling@destinreporting.com 9 1 VICE-CHAIRMAN RICE: Thank you so much for the 2 numbers at the bottoms of the page. Thank you so much. 3 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: All right, then. Let's welcome 4 Bill Leaman. Is Bill here? I mean, it's the coat I 5 think, Bill. 6 MR. LEAMAN: Afternoon, Mr. Chairman, Board 7 Members. Two things I'd like to talk about. 8 An issue that started with our catering food and 9 beverage service September 5th has been finalized by our 10 attorneys. We received a signed contract back on Friday. 11 We have to go before the board of county commissioners on 12 Tuesday. That is the contract with Aramark for food and 13 beverage services that should be complete, hopefully, 14 upon the approval of the board on this coming Tuesday. 15 The other thing I'd like to remind you of is a week 16 from Monday on the 9th we have a grand opening of Bayview 17 Plaza out back. One of -- the head of our building 18 maintenance department, Dougie Haron, has been working 19 very hard to make sure that the saw is all laid, the 20 irrigation is down, the back of the building is painted. 21 Everything looks good out there; all the electrical is 22 functional. 23 And I'd like to remind you it's at 5:00 inside the 24 north corridor up here (indicating), and we will have a 25 ceremony. We do the raising of the colors, and then the Destin Reporting & Technology Group (850) 837-5078 scheduling@destinreporting.com 10 1 National Anthem, and Chairman Windes will be speaking, 2 and also Mr. Peterson, our chairman here will be 3 speaking. Then we will go outside for a double-ribbon 4 cutting. It will entail Veteran's Park and the Bayview 5 Plaza. And that is Monday, the 9th, at 6:00 -- 5:00. 6 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Very good. 7 MR. LEAMAN: Any questions about either I'd be 8 happy to answer. 9 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: It's exciting. No comments? 10 Thank you. 11 MR. LEAMAN: Thank you. 12 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Thank you, Bill. Appreciate it 13 very much. 14 Moving right into the marketing update. Kendra? 15 MS. MOORE-NIXON: Good afternoon. Hopefully each 16 of you found your T-shirts at your place. And you'll see 17 several of our staff people from TDD staff, convention 18 center, and Peter Mayer folks have our "Let's Go Emerald 19 Coating" shirts on with our new hashtag that has really 20 taken off and gone viral. 21 These shirts, and also some hats that are being 22 printed, are give-aways for a Facebook promotion that we 23 did for Tourism Week, National Tourism Week. And you'll 24 see a little bit more on that during the presentation. 25 The first two items on here under marketing update Destin Reporting & Technology Group (850) 837-5078 scheduling@destinreporting.com 11 1 are just informational. One was a full-page ad in Visit 2 Florida instate magazine issue to promote instate 3 tourism. And then the next one is a full-page ad in the 4 quarterly edition of Food and Travel magazine that was 5 also placed. So if there's any questions about either of 6 one of those ... 7 If not then I'm going to turn it over to my friends 8 here, and they're going to update everyone on our 9 marketing plan for fiscal 2014-15. 10 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Very good. Thank you, Kendra. 11 MS. CLARKE: Good afternoon. So many of you have 12 the packets, I see, in front of you. Not to worry, we're 13 not going to take you through every slide that's in 14 there. We have a much abbreviated version that we're 15 going to take you through and really hit the highlights. 16 But as we go through this, please stop us, ask questions. 17 We can definitely provide more details if you have any 18 questions as you were reading through it. 19 So with that, we will start to take you through the 20 presentation. 21 So "Let's Go Emerald Coasting", as Kendra just 22 mentioned, we all have it on our shirts right now, and 23 the hashtag has taken off with some great pickup already 24 with all of our social media outlets. And this is 25 actually in market right now that we're going to show Destin Reporting & Technology Group (850) 837-5078 scheduling@destinreporting.com 12 1 you, and then it's also the campaign we plan to run next 2 year as well. 3 MR. SCHROEDER: Michelle? 4 MS. CLARKE: Oh, sure. 5 MR. SCHROEDER: Could I interrupt just one second? 6 MS. CLARKE: Oh, absolutely. 7 MR. SCHROEDER: We do have this slideshow in our 8 booklet, the abbreviated version, so if you want to make 9
