SCHROEDER: I do not, but I'll find out and get
8 back to you.
9 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: All right.
10 MR. DIXON: If they can't get in there they can
11 come see you, can't they?
12 MR. GUIDRY: I -- I --
13 MR. DIXON: I'm just kidding.
14 MR. GUIDRY: They're talking about product
15 improvement. You know, I don't know if because that is
16 the state's road that is the state's responsibility or
17 what, but it's our product, and we ought to be concerned
18 about it.
19 MR. RIGDON: Federal road, too.
20 MR. GUIDRY: What?
21 MR. RIGDON: Federal road, too.
22 MR. GUIDRY: Well, whatever. In the meantime,
23 brand new hotel as you know. I mean, it's just not
24 putting out a good image for us.
25 MR. DIXON: Where is the --

1 MR. GUIDRY: The Holiday Inn.
2 MR. DIXON: Oh.
3 MR. GUIDRY: Brand new Holiday Inn.
4 MR. DIXON: I hadn't seen the pond.
5 MR. GUIDRY: The front entrance is totally under
6 water. I mean, we're going to have cars bogging out over
7 there.
8 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: I guess it's appropriate also
9 to wish everybody a happy anniversary. This is our 12th
10 -- this is our -- I think our first meeting was in May
11 last year.
12 MR. GUIDRY: Oh, good.
13 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Public comment? Please.
14 MS. SHERRY: I'll be brief. Rebecca Sherry,
15 Okaloosa Island. And for the stenographer, R-E-B-E-C-C-A
16 S-H-E-R-R-Y.
17 As you continue the 2015 budget process, I want to
18 thank you for a job well done. As you're aware, on May
19 1st, Okaloosa County ceased the operation of the sand
20 sweeping from an outside contractor. Doing so projected
21 to save taxpayers about $60,000 annually. And I agree
22 with Joe that there were some Memorial Day Weekend
23 hiccups on the island.
24 On the other hand, many Okaloosa Island tourists
25 and locals were treated to a Memorial Day Weekend on the

1 Beach. A Tennessee tourist and talented artist sculpted
2 a sand menagerie. The attraction grew daily to include
3 an alligator, a dolphin, an octopus, a turtle, sand
4 castle, sea creatures, and a tribute to his
5 granddaughter, Dora.
6 We had this menagerie thanks to the Tennessee
7 tourist, but also to the Okaloosa County beach sweeper.
8 In the past, the tourist's and other tourists' creations
9 were flattened each morning by Sand Man during the beach
10 cleaning. Now the county sand cleaner has made it a
11 point to drive around sand sculptures.
12 This is a better and more considerate way to clean
13 the beach. The tourists love it, and so do locals. So
14 kudos to the TDC, Okaloosa County, and the employee
15 driving the beach sweeper on Okaloosa Island. Thank you.
16 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Thank you.
17 Any other comments?
18 All right. With that being said I'll entertain a
19 motion -- wait, yes, sir?
20 MR. GARCIA: I didn't want to move before she
21 finished.
22 My name is Jose Garcia. And you see me before
23 here. I'm going to pass around (indicating), if you
24 will, Mr. Schroeder. I do the Latin Salsa Festival, and
25 I just want to say thank you for -- I submitted my

1 application for the -- for some help with the budget for
2 my advertising. It was not approved, but I appreciate
3 the time that it was taken to do that.
4 Truthfully, I -- as soon as Mr. Frazier appointed
5 my -- the person who was to help me, I knew it was dead
6 on arrival from private experiences with the board.
7 Although, one -- at one time it was -- I did have some
8 help. I was soon after reminded that I was helped
9 before.
10 Now, the Latin Salsa Festival that I came out here
11 to advertise, per se, is open to everybody. In the
12 county, in the region, out-of-state; and I do advertise
13 it as so. What I like to do is propose -- or not propose
14 but suggest is that when the advertising for the area is
15 put out there on radio, television, newspapers, to please
16 include everybody.
17 And that's all I got to say. Thank you.
18 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: We appreciate that, and we make
19 every effort to do so. And, you know, some of the events
20 that we miss is because people don't step up here and let
21 us know you're having it. So we appreciate that.
22 MR. GARCIA: Thank you.
23 CHAIRMAN PETERSON: Any other comments from
24 anybody.
25 All right. Then I'll entertain that motion to --
