SUBJECT: Contract Renewal - Florida Department of Corrections

Statement of Issue: Request approval of the work squad contract with the Department of
Corrections (DOC) to provide officers and inmate work crews for the next year. The contract’s
effective date is August 22, 2013.
Background: Public Works has a budget line item approved to provide funds to the DOC so
that they are able to provide 2 supervisors to monitor the activities of inmate work crews who
assist Public Works in road and stormwater tasks throughout the county under this contract. The
annual cost for each crew is $58,004. This contract reflects no increase in annual expense versus
the previous contract. This contract renews contract number WS758.
Options: Approve/disapprove
Recommendations: Approve contract renewal #WS758 with the Florida Department of
Corrections and authorize Chairman to sign contract.
